About the Federal Geospatial Platform
The Federal Geospatial Platform is enterprise-wide technology serving the geospatial needs of the Federal government and Canadians through governance, data and technology. It is a multi-year collaborative effort of 21 geospatial-leading departments and agencies that participate on the Government of Canadaâs Federal Committee on Geomatics and Earth Observations. The FGP seeks to fundamentally change the way geospatial information is managed, shared, and used by the government.
The FGP plays a key role in bringing together the governmentâs economic, social and environmental authoritative data assets on a range of complex issues, such as responsible resource development, environmental management, regulatory reviews, and safety and security.
The Federal Geospatial Platform aims to provide access to the best tools and existing data in order to exploit the full potential of geospatial information in all business processes for the Government of Canada.
